This inspired a prayer based on song titles from that band or those associated with them at some point. As you read, please recognize the humor and understand this does not reflect my personal spiritual journey. Enjoy!<\/p>\n<p>Dear Lord,<br \/>\nPlease <em>help me thru the night. What do I do with my heart? All night long<\/em> I&#8217;ve been in a&nbsp;<em>bitter creek.<\/em>&nbsp;It&#8217;s been&nbsp;<em>business as usual<\/em>&nbsp;with me acting like I&#8217;m&nbsp;the <em>center of the universe.<\/em>&nbsp;I&#8217;m&nbsp;<em>desperado<\/em>&nbsp;for You, for I am a&nbsp;<em>certain kind of fool.<\/em>&nbsp;My sin is like&nbsp;<em>dirty laundry,<\/em>&nbsp;and I need Your&nbsp;<em>forgiveness.<\/em>&nbsp;<em>Do something<\/em>&nbsp;because I have a&nbsp;<em>frail grasp on the big picture.<\/em>&nbsp;It&#8217;s been a<em>&nbsp;funky new year<\/em>&nbsp;and I just need to&nbsp;<em>get over it.&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>As I slept,<em>&nbsp;I dreamed there was no war,<\/em>&nbsp;but I awoke and realized I just need to&nbsp;<em>learn to be still.&nbsp;Most of us are&nbsp;sad <\/em>down here&nbsp;believing there&#8217;s a&nbsp;<em>hole in the world.&nbsp;<\/em>But there&#8217;s&nbsp;<em>no good day in hell<\/em>&nbsp;either. The&nbsp;<em>heart of the matter<\/em>&nbsp;is I need You. I have a&nbsp;<em>heartache&nbsp;tonight.<\/em>&nbsp;<em>One of these nights,<\/em>&nbsp;by Your grace, I&#8217;ll awake with a&nbsp;<em>peaceful, easy feeling.<\/em>&nbsp;I trust <em>Your love will keep me alive.&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Adam and Eve took the&nbsp;<em>long road out of Eden<\/em>&nbsp;choosing&nbsp;<em>pie berry blossom.<\/em>&nbsp;You cast them into the&nbsp;<em>rocky mountain way<\/em>&nbsp;for they were&nbsp;<em>guilty of the crime.&nbsp;<\/em>Poor Adam, now an&nbsp;<em>outlaw man,<\/em>&nbsp;thinking of his own rib,&nbsp;the <em>girl from yesterday<\/em>&#8211;he&#8217;s a&nbsp;<em>victim of love,<\/em> and&nbsp;yet must&nbsp;<em>try and love again.<\/em>&nbsp;Now, forced to eat at the&nbsp;sad cafe of life,&nbsp;feeling&nbsp;out of control&nbsp;and&nbsp;waiting in the weeds,&nbsp;he wonders how long till the<em>&nbsp;nightingale<\/em> sings&nbsp;again. Feeling like a&nbsp;<em>new kid in town,<\/em>&nbsp;he must start over. And me, too,&nbsp;<em>busy being fabulous,<\/em>&nbsp;living&nbsp;<em>life in the fast lane,<\/em>&nbsp;as if I were&nbsp;<em>born to boogie!<\/em>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>As&nbsp;a <em>last resort,<\/em>&nbsp;I now ask You to protect me and&nbsp;<em>my man,<\/em>&nbsp;who is&nbsp;no <em>ordinary average guy.<\/em> I know he loves his&nbsp;<em>sexy girl,<\/em>&nbsp;though&nbsp;<em>I can&#8217;t tell you why,<\/em>&nbsp;and I hope to give him the&nbsp;<em>best of my love,<\/em>&nbsp;for I realize how<em>&nbsp;life&#8217;s been good.<\/em>&nbsp;You&#8217;ve let us sleep under a&nbsp;<em>lover&#8217;s moon,<\/em>&nbsp;but now I&#8217;m asking for&nbsp;<em>no more cloudy days.<\/em>&nbsp;We long to be&nbsp;<em>in the city<\/em>&nbsp;and need&nbsp;<em>no more walks in the wood.<\/em>&nbsp;We hear people say, <em>&#8220;You belong to the city,<\/em> so&nbsp;<em>walk away<\/em>&nbsp;and go live your&nbsp;<em>New York minute<\/em>&nbsp;with&nbsp;<em>fast company.&#8221;<\/em> We wonder,&nbsp;<em>after the thrill is gone,&nbsp;<\/em>would we miss the&nbsp;<em>wasted time<\/em>&nbsp;of country living&nbsp;<em>on the border<\/em> of cornfields? I can hardly remember our&nbsp;<em>last good time in town.<\/em>&nbsp;In my mind I&#8217;m&nbsp;<em>already gone,<\/em>&nbsp;so pull me back to contentment.<\/p>\n<p>I will never be the&nbsp;<em>early bird<\/em>&nbsp;anticipating the&nbsp;<em>sunset grill<\/em>&nbsp;of each day, but remind me: <em>&#8220;You are not alone.&#8221;&nbsp;Is it true?<\/em> Yes, You are with me, so <em>take the devil&nbsp;<\/em>and give him this&nbsp;<em>tequila sunrise<\/em>&nbsp;instead. Father, forgive this&nbsp;<em>witchy&nbsp;woman.<\/em><em>&nbsp;All she wants to do is dance<\/em>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<em>chug all night.<\/em> How long must I endure the<em>&nbsp;journey of the sorcerer?<\/em>&nbsp;Of him,&nbsp;<em>I don&#8217;t want to hear anymore.<\/em>&nbsp;I&#8217;ll go wherever You lead, even take&nbsp;<em>the long run<\/em>&nbsp;to&nbsp;<em>Hotel California<\/em>&nbsp;and begin the&nbsp;<em>Hollywood Waltz<\/em>&nbsp;instead.&nbsp;The <em>train leaves here tomorrow<\/em> and I&#8217;ll board it if You ask that of me.<\/p>\n<p>Till then, keep me from&nbsp;<em>lyin&#8217; eyes.<\/em>&nbsp;Show me how to&nbsp;<em>take it easy.<\/em>&nbsp;Help me beat down my pride and no longer<em>&nbsp;take it to the limit,<\/em> not even one more time. My heart,&nbsp;<em>it&#8217;s Your world now.<\/em>&nbsp;Keep it, lest it&nbsp;<em>turn to stone. <\/em><em>One day at a time,<\/em>&nbsp;I&#8217;ll live for You, Lord.
