Is there some secret committee out there that forms opinions and feels superior enough in their wisdom to impart it upon all mankind?<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>\u201cThey say you shouldn\u2019t go outside with a wet head.\u201d<\/em><br \/>\n<em>\u201cThey say not to swim for thirty minutes after you eat.\u201d<\/em><br \/>\n<em>\u201cThey say an apple a day keeps the doctor away.\u201d<\/em><br \/>\n<em>\u201cThey say never trust a skinny chef.\u201d<\/em><br \/>\n<em>\u201cThey say true love hides behind every corner.\u201d<\/em><br \/>\n<em>\u201cThey say the best things in life are worth waiting for.\u201d<\/em><br \/>\n<em>\u201cThey say always follow your heart.\u201d<\/em><br \/>\n<em>\u201cThey say it\u2019s the little things in life that matter the most.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The list is endless for what \u201cthey\u201d seem to be saying in our lives.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Far too often I have based decisions on what others have said. Yes, we should listen to godly wise counsel and, certainly, gathering others\u2019 opinions can be beneficial. But I am wondering about the choices I make from day to day that may be based on the \u201cthey say\u201d of life versus the \u201cwhat He says.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">I believe that God\u2019s Word is a lamp to my feet. This belief is based not only in faith, but upon evidences where His Word has proven so very trustworthy in guiding me. Why would I ever make a decision based on a \u201cthey say\u201d when the sovereign Creator of the universe has given me clear direction by the authority of His Word?<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>You have dealt well with Your servant,<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>O Lord, according to Your word.<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Teach me good discernment and knowledge,<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>For I believe in Your commandments.<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Before I was afflicted I went astray,<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>But now I keep Your word.<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>You are good and do good;<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Teach me Your statutes.<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>The arrogant have forged a lie against me;<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>With all my heart I will observe Your precepts.<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Their heart is covered with fat,<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>But I delight in Your law.<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>It is good for me that I was afflicted,<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>That I may learn Your statutes.<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>The law of Your mouth is better to me<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Than thousands of gold and silver pieces (<\/strong><strong>Psalm 119:65-72).<\/strong><em><br \/>\n<\/em><br \/>\nThe psalmist has seen the difference between man and God. He has tasted the good and perfect law of His heavenly Father and no longer seeks the wisdom of man. Through his affliction, he has grown deeper in his trust of the Word and its truths. As followers of Christ Jesus, let us refrain from ever seeking the value of man\u2019s opinion over the powerful Word of God.
